Friese gantry crane - RESIN KIT WITH PHOTOETCHED BRASS PARTS The portable gantry crane was manufactured in 1942 by Fries & Son in Frankfurt, Germany. The crane had a capacity of 16 tons and was used by the Wehrmacht maintenance units in removing turrets and engines from heavy German tanks. The crane was also used by V2 missile crews. The crane could be erected from traveling to operating position in twenty minutes. This was made possible by use of jack-knife tubular legs with wire cable tackle blocks and a manual winch.
