The Sherman flail tank was developed by the British, but the American Army used them from 1943 onwards.
Years ago I got two flail tanks in a collection I purchased. Later I built a third one of my own.
About a year ago I decided to upgrade my three flail tanks and make them a little more realistic.
The flail was a rotating drum with chains on it that exploded mines as the chains beat against the ground.
The two models I purchased had wire protruding from the cylinder as if they were beating the ground.
The wire has bits of glue on it to make it look more like chain.
This tank model was originally a Roco Minitank Sherman but I replaced the rear end with the rear from a pre-production Heiser tank, to make the rear hull correct.
The booms were made using Plastruct and Evergreen Plastic parts. The models were painted with Rust-Oleum Flat Gray 2X Primer.
