1:87 Scale Modeling Options for T-62 Tank
Petner Panzers T-62 and T-72 tanks in HO scale have been around for about 40 years and they still hold up well today.  They are easy to assemble and yet have very nice detail.

Between 1961 and 1975 the Soviet Union produced about 20,000 T-62 tanks.  They did poorly in the export market because they were 50% more expensive than the T-55 series tanks, and considered not much of an advance over the older tank.

The T-55 and the T-62 were the most common tanks in the Soviet Union for decades, and many still remain in reserve stocks.  Some of both of these tanks have seen combat in the Russian / Ukraine war.

The T-62 was the primary Soviet tank used during the Soviet / Afghan war and the Soviets admitted to about 150 having been destroyed during that war.
T-62 tanks have also seen combat service with Soviet or Russian forces in border clashes with Communist China in 1969, the Russian / Chechnya War in the mid to late 1990s, the 2008 Russian / Georgian War, and the ongoing Russian / Ukraine War.  The T-62 tanks seem particularly vulnerable to RPG hits to the side of the turret.
T-72 tanks often served alongside T-62 tanks in the Soviet Army.
Over 300 T-62 tanks have been in service with Angola, and many saw combat service against South Africa in 1983.

In the 1970’s Iraq received just shy of 3,000 T-62 tanks and used them against the Kurds and Iran over the next 20 years or so.  Other international users include Cuba, Libya, and Bulgaria.

Both the real T-62 and the Petner Panzer version are long out of production and can be difficult to find.  Order a few from Fidelis Models now while stock is still available.
