8 Inch Field Howitzer M2A1 The 155mm Long Tom and the 8 Inch Field Howitzer used the same mount, the only difference between these two is the length of the barrel, the 203mm or 8 Inch howitzer is the shorter of the two barrels. These guns were operated in WWII by the US Army by both the Field Artillery and the Coast Artillery. Post war the 203mm howitzer continued in service for many years as a nuclear artillery piece. These weapons were very accurate and used by American Allies post war for decades. They were typically towed by 5 ton trucks, the Corbitt truck, or by the M4 high speed tractor, all by Roco.
